Effect of Russia – Ukraine War on FIFA World Cup Recruitment

Russia – Ukraine War

The Russian leader's initial aim was to overrun Ukraine and depose its government, ending for good its desire to join the Western defensive alliance Nato. But the invasion has become bogged down and he appears to have scaled back his ambitions.

Launching the invasion on 24 February 2022 he told the Russian people his goal was to "demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine", to protect people subjected to what he called eight years of bullying and genocide by Ukraine's government. "It is not our plan to occupy the Ukrainian territory. We do not intend to impose anything on anyone by force," he insisted. (Paul Kirby, 2022).

Recruitment

“Recruitment is the process of searching the suitable candidates for employment and attracting them to apply for jobs in the organisation”. The process of selecting the best qualified candidate (from within or outside of an organization) for a open position in an Organization, in a timely and cost effective manner. The recruitment process includes analyzing the requirements of a job, attracting employees to that job, screening and selecting applicants, hiring, and integrating the new employee to the organization. A process of finding and attracting capable applicants for employment. The process begins when new recruits are sought and ends when their applications are submitted. The result is a pool of applications from which new employees are selected. (Renuka Devi. B and Vijaya Banu. P, 2014).

Impact on Recruitment

War on any part of the world has not resulted with positive vibes, no exception for Recruitment. Job Market has been widely affected, Job has been lost or unable to recruit staff from these countries and neighboring countries. Especially the second biggest Sports Event going to take place later this year i.e. FIFA World Cup 2022.

Plans of Organizing committee of 2022 World Cup has been shuttered due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine considering Russia host the FIFA World Cup 2018. Host Country of 2022 FIFA World Cup had plans to hire the expertise of Russia since it hosted the last World Cup.

To conclude War has negative effect all over, it is not only effecting the areas surrounded but the whole World. Impact of War on Recruitment is immense affecting all the concern parties by choice or not.
