Employee
engagement is a workplace approach that translates everything into the positive
conditions for members of the Organization to perform their best every day, in
aligned with goals and values of their organization resulting success of the
Organization, with a growing sense of well-being.
According
to Kahn (1990) defines employee engagement as “the harnessing of organization
members’ selves to their work roles; in engagement, people employ and express themselves
physically, cognitively, and emotionally during role performances”.
Often
than not employee engagement has been defined as emotional and intellectual
commitment to the organisation or the amount of extended desire exhibited by
employees in their job (Frank et al 2004).
Employee
engagement is attractive to human resources because of their direct benefits in
terms of staff retention, employment, job satisfaction and happiness. But the
benefits of staff participation go beyond human resources.

· Better Team Performance : When group of individuals are engaged it effect the team performance at higher level.
· Increased Employee Productivity : Engaged employee’s consider performance matter and invest time on to perform the job which result in Increased productivity.
· Higher Employee Retention & Lower Employee Turnover : An engaged employee is less likely to leave the Organization. Team with experience and expertise turn around the performance of the Organization.
· Achieving Team Objectives : Team members who believe in the vision are what you need to take you there. And they will when they’re engaged in their work and aligned with your strategy.
· Lower Employee Absenteeism : Engage employees show up frequently than less engage employees.
· Less Workplace Stress : Engaged employees with supportive managers, some stress at work is likely easier to manage, and could even become a motivator.

Lower
Risk of Burnout : By keeping your employees engaged with their work and
monitoring stress levels on your team, they’re at a lower risk for burnout.
The
need to increase engagement is pressing. It goes to show that transparency and
confidence in an organization can inspire employees to be engaged—meaning they’re
involved, enthusiastic and committed to their work.
